ViewFTPUser reference manual |

When you start ViewFTP the main window shows up. If the program language is not English, please select Lingua -> English.
The settings of the previous session are stored and displayed, so you do not have to rewrite them the next time. This is very handy if you run almost always the same. If this is the case, enter the password if required, and click on Open Window. That's all.
The first time you run the program, you have of course to input all the data. Proceed as follows:
Please note, the stored passwords are encrypted, but the encryption is not particularly strong. Therefore, if you know or suspect that foreign or unathorized people might have access to your PC, or if you are using a laptop computer that might remain unattended, avoid storing the passwords.
Click Open windows.
ViewFTP closes and, if there are no errors (the site name or address is correct, the credential are valid), it opens a window identical in all respects to a normal Windows window, where you can work as a normal Windows window.
If there is an error in your credential (username and/or password), you probably will be prompted for new credentials. This however does not depend on ViewFTP, but on Windows, so the behavior may chenge with the version of Windows.
You can also open the FTP site in your default web browser: of course, in browser you can only perform the download, not the upload. Note that some browsers show in clear the username and the password in the address bar.
If you connect to a server which you have already logged in in the past, just look for the setting name, ad the password if needed, and then open the window.
If you need to create a new connection, proceed exactly as you did for the first run.
You can request the cancellation of all the registerd passwords for all the stored settings. Select File -> Forget all passwords.
Please note, the stored passwords are encrypted, but the encryption is not particularly strong. Therefore, if you know or suspect that foreign or unathorized people might have access to your PC, or if you are using a laptop computer that might remain unattended, avoid storing the passwords.
