WiseCopy activation

Here it is assumed you have downloaded, installed and tested your copy of WiseCopy, and, as you are of course completely satisfied, you want to activate, by registering, one or more copies of it on on or more PCs.

Here we teach you how to do, and you will see that it is much easier to do than to explain.


License purchasing

First, if you have not already done it, you must purchase a license for one or more PCs, as you need, and you can do this by using the button Purchase WiseCopy at top left of this page, or by clicking here. The transaction is handled by PayPal and if you do not have a PayPal account you can still use your credit card. We do not consider any other form of payment.

When the transaction is completed, you will receive a transaction code: you should receive it immediately, on a web page, but it should also be sent by PayPal to your e-mail. Carefully keep this transaction code, because it is required to activate your license(s). You will also find this code by logging into your PayPal account any time.

If no error occurs, and the payment is confirmed, you can immediately use the transaction code to activate your licenses. Note that it is not enough that the payment has been successful: it must have been confirmed by PayPal.


Automatic activation

If the PC where you want activate WiseCopy has an internet connection, the easiest way is to start with running WiseCopy. In fact, if your copy has not been registered yet, the program at startup shows the registration form, as in picture. If this form does not appear, you can retrieve it by using the menus File -> Program registration

Note: if the field Activation code is not blank, that is, if it contains a sequence of letters and numbers, normally 12, it means that the program is been activated, and therefore you should not do anything, unless you want to transfer the registration to a name or to a different name.

Copy the PayPal transaction code where it says Authorization code, and click Register online. After a few seconds, the Activation Code field should be automatically filled in, and you should get a message confirming the successful registration. Because the operation is successful it is necessary that:

  • Your computer is connected to the Internet.
  • Your firewall, if present and active, grants WiseCopy the access to the Internet. The program accesses a web service with a standard call on port 80: therefore, apart from the name of the program, you need not configure anything else. Normally, your firewall should ask permission when WiseCopy tries to access the network or the Internet. If your firewall is configured in a particular way, provide, or ask the one who installed and configured it.
  • The web server and the web registration service is active and reachable. This the normal case, true 99.9% of the times, but it is always possible the occurrence of errors, or temporary unavailability of the server or service, for example for maintenance.

Manual activation

If the procedure of automatic registration is not possible, either by mistake or by lack of internet connection, you have to manually activate the program: to do so, you have get the activation code.

Activation code request via Internet

If during the automatic registration process any error occurs, the program launches your favorite Internet browser (Internet Explorer - bleah, Firefox, Safari ...), opening the page http://www.aldomarchioni.it/products/reg/, with all fields properly filled in. You can also explicitly request this behavior by checking the box Open browser before clicking on Register online: in such a case, the automatic registration is not even attempted.

At this point, follow the instructions on that page for the calculation of the activation code.

If the authorization code has already been used to obtain the activation code on the same PC, or if the program has been activated on the same PC in the past, you will be instead redirected to the page showing the activation code.

Activation code request via email

If the PC you want to activate WiseCopy to has no Internet access, you have no choice but to manually ask for an activation code. You have two options, but in any case you must first open the registration form, as above. If this form does not show when the program is run, you can retrieve it via File -> Program registration.

Note: if the field Activation code is not blank, that is it contains a sequence of letters and numbers, normally 12, it means that the program has already been registered, and therefore you should not do anything, unless you want to transfer the registration to a name or to another name.

Copy the PayPal transaction code where it says Authorization code, if you have it, or leave the field blank if you do not have one (it could be we have an agreement for free registration, for example, or you could have paid otherwise), and click Request. The program creates a file on your PC desktop that contains all the informations needed to manually generate an activation code.

This file, which is placed for your convenience on your desktop, must be sent via email. You will not find here, nowhere, my email address: so don't look for it, I get enough spam and junk mail, I will not publish my email address here, so if you do not have my email address because you got it from me, you have to open the file (eg using Notepad) and copy the entire contents to a message to be sent from here.

If your payment is regular and corfimed, you will receive the activation code as soon as possible, together with instructions for its use.

NB: please do not call to get the activation code. I am forced to oppose a polite but firm refusal. I can not afford to use my time to manage that business by phone. I will not make exceptions for anyone. In these cases, the exception becomes soon rule, and it is something that I can not afford. Likewise, do not send your request by fax. It will be ignored, and with no exceptions.


Activation of your program copy

When you have got the activation code, in one or the other way, you have just to copy it in the Activation code field of the WiseCopy registration form. After it click Register, and you are done. If you get an error message, please pay attention to typing errors: the activation code is case sensitive, and, for instance, there is difference between the uppercase vowel O and the number 0, and also between the lowercase letter ell, l, and the uppercase letter I.

NB: The activation code is valid only for the computer that originated the request. To activate the program on a different computer, you must repeat the activation process for that computer. If an error occurs, make sure the activation code corresponds to your computer: the Registration ID must be identical.
